Sweet tooth

There are inborn differences in genotype, hence some individuals produce more proteins that sense the sugar on their tongue and send the message to their brains, resulting in the perception of a ‘sweet’ taste. These people have a stronger ability to taste sweet and like sugar. The gene for sweet (TAS1R3) encodes a receptor which is responsible for sensing sucrose in the body.
