Vitamin B9 is needed to repair damaged cells as well as forming red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body. It, therefore, plays an important role in your VO2 max. B9 also prevents an accumulation of homocysteine (Hcy) in the blood, a protein that has been found to be associated with cardiovascular problems. Therefore, an athlete’s performance will be compromised if they have insufficient to moderate B9 levels.
With this insight you will learn if you have a low, medium or high uptake of Vitamin B9.
